Heather Barnett
Senior Researcher/Policy Analyst
Dr Heather Barnett, PhD, has a critical psychology and gender analysis background. Her doctoral research explored concepts of gender and power in New Zealand clinical psychology training programmes.
Heather managed and co-authored the Mental Health Commission's young adult narrative research project Journey's of Despair, Journeys of Hope (2006) and was a key writer for the Commission's report on the decade since the Mason Inquiry Te Haererenga mo te Whakaōranga 1996-2006 (2007).
With a strong interest in childhood trauma, family violence, poverty and young people, Heather has worked in community, government, private sector and academic settings. She has been a conference keynote speaker.
Heather is currently managing the Families and Whānau Discrimination research project and provides policy advice for the foundation and the Like Minds, Like Mine Programme.
